Keeping It Accountable

Community Guidelines

CommonGround works because people show up as their real, accountable selves. These guidelines exist to keep the platform a place where founders can ask for help, neighbors can show up without getting hassled, and disagreements get resolved without anyone being driven off the platform.

Be honest about who you are

Use your real name and a real photo where possible. Project listings should accurately describe what's being built and who's building it. Misrepresenting a project's progress or funding status is grounds for removal.

Disagree without attacking

Forum discussions and event comments should stay focused on ideas, not people. Harassment, slurs, and personal attacks are removed on sight, and repeat offenders lose posting privileges.

Respect funding commitments

If you pledge to a funding round, follow through. If you run a round, spend the funds on what you said you would and post updates so supporters can see the impact of their contribution.

Report, don't retaliate

If something violates these guidelines, use the report tool instead of escalating publicly. Our moderation team reviews every report and acts on confirmed violations.

What Happens If Guidelines Are Broken

Most first-time issues start with a warning and a request to fix the problem. Repeated or severe violations can lead to content removal, posting restrictions, or account suspension. Decisions are made by the moderation team and can be appealed through Support Hub.
